    Default Woodpecker

    Lake Pickthorne report.
Several years ago I fished the lake and always caught a nice mess of crappie, never cow killed them or even limited out; but some nice fish.Went May 22nd and caught One 1# 6oz and one 10 oz. and several dinks. Same thing the last several trips over the past several years. Friend of mine has has the same results. Contacted the GFC biologist for this lake, Ben Sutton( a really nice man) and gave him this result and asked him if the body of water may be over populated. The first thing he said was "nail on the head". They sampled the lake last year and said the nets were full of dinks and a very few good crappie, some up to 2 1/2 #. They are looking at two or three options to try to correct this problem, but have not decided on which one to pursue. It will be several years before I give it a try.

Hope this helps the poster that wanted some info about this lake.
