Caught a few on Old River lake yesterday. Biggest was a lil over a pound and smallest was dinks. Alot of dinks lol. But had a blast anyways! Does anyone ever get into any slabs on this lake or is just short of a pound the average size? Only 2nd time to this lake in my life. Caught fish both times, but have yet to catch a SUPER.

I've fished it once before a couple of years ago, without a lot of luck. I will be out there Sunday morning to try them again. Were they up shallow? on the beds? Any info you want to share would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats! were you near the spillway?

Early Feb thru mid March, if you catch dinks you are in the wrong spot. From April to June, there is a wide range of fish caught. June thru August, 1 lb'ers are the norm, and August thru Feb, I am not fishing there.

I've caught some big ones out of there. 1 to 1.5 pounders are common. I lost my access to it when the guy I knew sold his land. Sure wish I could get back on it. Heard the rod and reel club had a 2 year wait list.

Fished it all of my life. Some decent fish in the lake. Cause its private it lacks the pressure to keep from over pop. Fish get stunted. Friend of mine fishes almost everyday - lives on the lake. Use big minnows.

Yes sir. Towards the spillway, but before you get out of all the houses.
