He is using a small clip-on bobber. That way the jig stays at the same depth. The jig is staying just above the hydrilla and the crappie are hiding in pockets of the hydrilla, he is covering a lot of area by casting and a very slow retreive. Another thing to think about...I've noticed that the crappie are very stacked up, meaning that you will catch 3-5 crappie out of one spot. But, you get off that spot by a foot, and you won't catch a single one. Willie has his known spots, he isn't just throwing out there blindly.
