    Default Lake Conway Update????

I haven't seen anything posted in quite sometime concerning Lake Conway....Has anyone been fishing the lake lately (or at least what's left of it these days )? I haven't done enough each time I've been to make me want to go back and put my equipment through the torture....However I'm still optimistic that a man could get out there and wax'em....We've got just over a month before the gates get closed...Honestly I'm ready for them too...I normally do my best fishing from October to late February on that lake and with it drawn down for nearly have that timeframe this year I feel as though I'm getting cheated......Any updates would be much appreciated...

    This week's fishing report:

Lake Conway: Bates Field and Stream said the water is low and murky. Crappie fishing is excellent on pink minnows and chartreuse jigs with pink heads fished around stumps along the main channels. Bass are fair in the shallows on top-water lures and large minnows. Catfishing is fair. It takes some work to get a boat in the water, but a small Jon boat can still be launched around Adams Lake Landing.

I was at Adam's two weeks ago and me and Lil'J tried to drag my tiny 12' jon to the water and we gave up. I didn't see where anyone else was being successful putting in there. Boats are getting out there somehow but I can't figured out how?

I'm going to try the damsite launch this weekend.. driving me nuts

    Default the best thing.....

that has come from Conway being drawn down this year is the new places I have seen and tried. Along with that is the new freinds I have made. I didn't realize how complacent I had become.
I reported this on a different thread some what...
The fish and game stated it drew the lake down to give everyone an oportunity to fix thier docks. This may be true; but, the reason behind this is so they can clamp down on permiting them. I don't know why this is an issue with them. I hope they were able to identify the septic line violaters. I think it would have been more beneficial if they would have published this as the reason.
Any way; I am trying to be patient. As long as they start stocking them big red ears and crappie I have been catching the last few years. I think the last draw down was very benificial.

Conway is where I've done 90 percent of my fishing over the past 20+ years. It has seemed weird not fishing out the summer and this fall there. However, with the drawdown and it's forced me to try new bodies of water...and that has been enjoyable. Didn't realize there so many places within reasonable distance of Little Rock.

Will be glad when it fills back up. Conway still has a lot of issues facing it, but it's still a good lake and part of home.

I can't wait either. I need to do some studying on Lake Conway. I made some unsuccessful trips last year. Then during the summer this year, Jhook's posts of those nice bream forced me to go try it. I really like the lower part of the lake, but I also know that other parts are productive. I need to do some scouting out there while the water is down. Is it legal to park and walk the lake bed?

Ain't that the truth. I have had to make new plans for the winter and next spring.

    Hey CEB
I don't know how to fish Conway in the late spring and summer. I have not been able to find them. I would love to be able to find where them red ears migrate after the spawn. I have been looking for 10 years and ain't found them yet. I do catch some big ones during the spring though.

CEB - I don't think it's illegal to to walk around the lake bed...though you might want to take some hip boots. Just don't dig up anything. An unintended consequence of the draw down have been artifact hunters. The state has been trying to crack down on them.

I always had best crappie luck on conway Oct, Nov, Dec. and early spring. East side of the lake in the cypress trees and log jams. It's called the "Duckblind" area. Summertime they can be impossible to find, but the bream fishing was always excellent. As for redear, I've never known how to find them, but will occasionally get into them and what a hoot.

I have heard of the logjams in Conway. I have never been on the east side of '89. Is that where they are?

DR -- the ones I've fished over the years are located on the east side of the lake, along the bank between Pierce Creek and Adams lake. They change every year with rising and lowering water, wind etc. I kept my boat for many years at Paradise Landing. Just motor out to the main boat lane, turn left. Motor up a half mile or so, then take a right and ease your way through and over the stumps to the bank.

My Job has finally brought me back home for good in Conway. I have become a converted crappie fisherman while living in Oklahoma. I hate that Lake Conway has been brought down & am afraid the Jan. Feb. bite might be slow when the water comes up this winter. Has anyone ever done any crappie fishing at beaver fork? I have heard of a few people pulling some crappie out of this small lake. Any help would be greatly appreciated
