Fishing Nimrod
I grew up fishing Nimrod with my grandfather. Now I'm older and want to go back for old times sake and figure it out again.
I moved back to the state almost 2 years ago but we lost my grandfather a year ago this week. Unfortunately we weren't able to get on Nimrod before he went and it's been 15-20 years since I have been on the lake.
So now I'm starting over. I'd like to get out on Nimrod a few times this month and spend a little time wetting jigs. I single pole jig for the most part. I don't really remember much about the lake so was hoping to get a few pointers about the best ramp to launch and which direction to turn to start looking for fish. I have images in my mind but there's no telling if the lake still looks the same.
I have a 17' Xpress with a 70 hp on the back now. A lot different than my 16' jon with the 9.9 so I want to make sure I get on the right ramp and don't get in anyone's way.
I remember the bite would be real sporadic growing up, it seemed the spring rains and weather changes would hit that lake hard. Is that still true? When the bite was on though, it was on.
Thanks for anything you guys can give me. I hope the weather breaks soon and stays consistent this year so we can all hit em hard.

Go out and look for the guy with the fastest trolling motor on the lake and no dip net in his boat and you'll know who to follow around. You could also probably follow the trail of black/chart jigs floating on the water as well - he's been known to leave a few in the lake. Seriously, i never fish the lake but know that you're right about rains messing it up pretty easily. there's several on the board that fish it and i'm sure someone will chime in and give you some advice.
