RCC, is that rig you tie the same as a capps n coleman? Other than colored weight and hooks? I'm going again tomorrow and just might have to go get me some more cc rigs if so...

Yes, it is a Capps and Coleman. Don't let the junk I put out full you. Tie a couple hooks/jigs/minnercritters (which work really well) on some string with a weight on the bottom or in the middle, and you will be good to go. After that, it is about fishing. You are trying to catch a fish that has a brain the size of a thimble that has 2 things on it's mind, eating and spawning. Fish eat everyday, cold fronts, warm fronts, rain, snow hail, or volcanoes, even when completely full.It ain't rocket science even though if people can make it seem that way it "makes them look smarter".
However the above being said when you tie remember these things....You gotta tie something that will store good. You gotta tie something that will wrap up on the rod at the end of the day (unless you want to unrig everytime). You gotta tie something that will not tangle everytime you drop it in the water. You gotta tie something that is easy to deal with if you hang. When you tie something like the above, you will catch fish and enjoy doing it.
Good luck and catch a bunch of fish and post up some awesome pics.
All you need is 2 hooks 1 snap swivel and 1 weight. Tie on snap swivel attach weight of choice. Come up the line tie a loop knot just big enough to thread the hook on then come up the line and repeat that's it your done no tangles no mess very inexpensive and very productive. You can use road runners heads or jigs heads with jigs on them tipped with minnows or just the heads with minnows they all catch but the bare hook with minnow works just the same. Give em all a try and find what works for you. That's the basic set up.
I tie some in the C&C style but I add a spinner to the top hook. If the water is clear I use natural colors and silver spinners. If the water is stained I use a gold or chartreuse spinner.Sometime that vibration on top will also cause the bottom hook to wobble making ole mister crappie think that minner critter is hurt and needs to be eat! Here's a couple of pics! And I use a stand-out hook and horsehead sometime when the wind is down and I am moving slower and fishing shallower.
Slablapper I am having a hard time following your rig too many loops. Can you post a pix with it straight so I can follow our line better. Interesting
Since I'm off work and it's too cold to work on my boat shed I pre-rigged 3 Capps and Coleman rigs. These things can seem to tangle themselves just looking at them! I'm wanting to try them out when I get to go out.
Thanks slablapp I bet she could. That's interesting way to rig em.
I took another shot of the diagram. May be clearer.
I have been playing with the C&C rig - not catching much but amazing how easy you can work it loose from a hang up......in the water....it's deadly in the boat!
