Today I got to take my father-in-law, Mike Keys, fishing in the pool. Mike is a great guy and is one of my fishing mentors. Mike has put me on so many fish, that I really wanted to repay him with a classic Lake Conway rod Bender. Unfortunately the crappie were not cooperating. We ended up catching only 5 good eaters, no slabs. It was still a nice day (but windy). We also caught 16 drum. I knew it was going to be a slow day when the yellow bass weren't biting. The only poeple that we saw putting a bunch of crappie in the boat this afternoon were fishing strait minnows. I'm not sure but I think the pool is starting to wind down for the year. I'm sure someone like Russ, Greg, or Chris will prove me wrong. I got to meet a few other CC.com members that I haven't met before (popshot and Mac Daddy) along with the usual Gold Creek suspects. It was nice to see y'all out there grinding it out. I got to age a 2.5 white crappie for MacDaddy. It appeared to be 5 years old. Nice Fish!
