    Default Bayou Bartholomew

My dad and I fished Bayou Bartholomew this weekened. It was our first time fishing this bayou. We put in next to Walmart in Pine Bluff. We didn't have any luck and the 4 other boats we talked to also got skunked. I figured the water was a little too cold still. Has anyone else ever fished Bartholomew up around PB. Is it worth hitting up a few more times when the water warms up?

Some folks do good on Bartholomew down around Star City close to the dam on Cane Creek lake.

    So I'm told.

If the Bayou is like our bottomland streams here, it's high and muddy. At least maybe the rain will warm it up.

As a kid I stood on my front porch and watched aligators swim in Bayou Bartholomew in Louisiana. I used to fish it a lot late in the summer for yearling bass; you could walk down the middle and fish both side with a motor oil colored worm and do real well. You could tie a tube to a belt loop and when you got to a hole just float across. Ben a long time LOL...............

Next time go around to the bridge and get into the little lake/pond on the north side of the bridge, there is a boat trail thru the weeds, troll in a circular pattern starting as near the middle as you can determine, I have probably put 50 christmas trees in there over the last three years, when you catch a fish or get hung, mark the spot till you have 5 or 6 marked and troll between them. We call it Lake Walmart.

Maybe 6 ft at normal level, doesn't seem to have any deep holes in it, but I haven't had a depth finder in it either.

Where is this boat trail at? I motored as far as it looked like I felt comfortable going. Trolled back to the ramp and didn't get a bite on different jigs, beetle spin, or a minnow casting bait either.
