    Default Central Arkansas Spider rig

I'm new to spider rigging and was wondering where are some good places to start around central arkansas?

Just about any lake you can spider rig. The main thing is dont think that you have to put all 8 rods in the water. On Conway I very seldom use over 4 sometimes 6. On Dardanelle in Piney I will use 8, but move over to the Bayou I might go back to 4 depending on the brush. In my opinion Nimrod is a good lake to start with. There is an over abundance of fish and alot of open flats. Just remeber start with a couple of rods and work your way up to more as your confidence builds. There is nothing like running to fast and getting all your rods hung in one brushpile and not knowing what to do. Last if you think you are going slow then slow down some more.

I am in a stick steer and have found 4 poles is about all I want out; even with guest. DO NOT start out in Conway unless you are in the pool. I had 8 poles out in Dardenelle last spring with 3 adults and did well. The problem with too many out with guest is they don't understand "reel em up fast" when somebody gets hung up.
I have grown fond of Jerry's minner critters when using minners. I only use one one each pole about 16" below an egg and swivel. Some people use two or more.
Can't beat experience. Just do it.

Get you some shade! The first thing to buy is an umbreler! Remember once the spider bites you its over. Enjoy! You will love it.

Hard to beat Nimrod for crappie fishing. Just remember a lot of time fish structure not just the cover. Channel edges versus brushpiles, saves on the retying. Godbless.

I fish the Arkansas river and backwaters. Just pick a lake or river and go fish it is best way.
