    Default Bamboo

I am looking for some large, 3" plus bamboo. Not the smaller native kind on the creek banks, I have that on my creek, but the kind that grows 30' tall. I know it can be invasive so If you have some that needs to be cut let me know. I live in north Ark.
    thanks

Real bamboo is not as invasive as cane and can be controlled. I know a fella in Jacksonville that has lots of it. I'll check with him next week.

Me & my yard would like or disagree with that. The stuff can spread 50' in one spring. If you don't mow down the shoots within the first few days/week of them popping up, you've got to cut them down with a saw or something similar.

At at least that's how my bamboo acts. I've got some 4" plus in diameter and 50' plus tall in my patch.

Jigflinger, your buddy might have the clumping bamboo, as opposed to the running bamboo I have.

Give ole Roughneck a shout and he'll help control it. The stuff I know about just get mowed like the rest of the lawn. No problem.

I could use a patch too. Got plenty of room. Will it grow in any soil? I need some of the 50ft stuff so I can make a cane pole long enough to fish in CMJs livewell.

It ain't hard to start if you really think you want it. Just pull up a handful of sprouts, keep them moist and come spring just scatter them where you want them to start. Viola! Bamboo patch. Just be certain you can live with it.
