    Default Ceb's fishing hole

    Hey Ceb
I looked for you or Gooch Saturday on the little Maumelle. I tried somemore spider rigging. I did catch a few white bass, a cat fish, a decent striper, and a bunch of those pesky little yellow bass. No crappie though. The only mess was made by the cat fish. He hit a jig I had stuffed full of nibbles.
This place is sure handy to my house. My nerves won't take the !@#$%s flying by me in those Rangers and Champions. That area has got to be about 3/4 mile wide. But, these A!@@#s fly by within a few feet. I hope their dog dies.

Now thats freaking funny. Sorry we missed you out there Dr Pepper. I was deer hunting and CEB was entertaining faimily this weekend. You need to come out and meet us after work some time. On the weekdays there is little to no boat traffic. Also after daylight savings time gets here we will start doing a little nightstalking in the evenings you could join us for.

    Take care

Hey Dr. my wife and I were at Little Maumelle Friday evening and again Saturday morning. Was that you we saw trolling around the mouth of the Little Maumelle? We too caught several of the yellow bass...kept a couple actually. Nice size. Caught a couple of large mouth. I finally resorted to bream fishing and picked up a few nice ones. Friday we caught several of the yellow and one small crappie.

Gotta tell you, there's some flat-assed rude behavior out there. I don't begrudge a large boat, but I guess a lot of these guys blast within 30 or 40 feet of you at 40 mph and don't even look at you because they can. We damn near got swamped by one of them Saturday.

I keep a rod with a 3/8-ounce Kastmaster spoon handy and suddenly get the urge to start bass fishing when I see a bass boat coming too close too fast. Seems like there's always a bass breaking right in front of them just before the come abreast of my boat. It's really hard to get the spoon in the water though before they get there because they are going so fast so it usually ends up about windsheild high as the boat moves over the breaking fish.

From the AG&F Commission web site - http://www.agfc.state.ar.us/rules_re...ing_regs.html: "Operating at a greater than no-wake speed within 100 feet of an anchored or moored vessel, shoreline, dock pier, swim float, marked swim area, swimmer, surfer, person engaged in angling or any manually propelled vessel is prohibited."

So I guess if someone accidentally gets a treble hook in their neck while making a wake within 100-feet of someone fishing it's thier own damn fault!

I had about 4 ploes out front and she just had one in the back. And yea the other boats do come by close. Used up 2 doz minnows. That's how many whites and little catfish.

I just made replies to several then got a message that I wasn't logged in when I tried to submit. I hate it when that happens.

I quit drinking because I thought it was making it hard to go to work. I found out it is the staying out all night that does it. We do need to get together just because.

Were you in an orange boat? I have thought about putting my .com handel on my boat somewhere so I could be reconized and meet people out there.

I bet You and Darryl do get a few gawkers and buttheads. I try to be considerate when I am trout fishing on the White; knowing I am the big boat there. During low water you can't keep em all happy. Some claim I leave a smaller wake when I blow by them. But, it just don't seem right to do so.

I got some revenge; I fished a brand new Ranger cap out of the drink.

DR P -- we were in the 16 ft alumacraft flat bottom with the 25 hp yamaha. We moved a little ways up river and drifted back down around the point (the chicken wire with rocks point). Someone was trolling the mouth. Thought maybe that was you. I've met CEB and Gooch out there...of course they're easy to recognize. CEB is kind of one PR shop with his photo posting...of which we are all grateful Chris...so they were easy to recognize.

We fish the Little Maumelle quite often, Lake Maumelle occasionally and the Little Red River for trout every chance we get. For years I've fished Lake Conway out of Paradise Landing but with the draw down I've discovered the Little Maumelle. While I've never caught the fish there I've caught at Conway, it such a beautiful river that's it worth the boatride, plus it's five minutes away from the house.

If that's the law, then there are a bunch of violators out there. Good thing is, most of them that will do that don't like to fish when it's cold. In the past, I've had the boat rockin' so much that the minnows were yanked off all seven poles.

I took my nephew fishing out there yesterday morning. I think the weatherman got the forecast a little wrong. I was cool and rainy, which is my dream day for fishing, but not for the little man. We caught a few crappie, a nice little cat (first fish of the day), and a bunch of yellow bass. He had a great time after he got to bear hug that cat. One good thing about that stretch of river is that you can always depend on catching some fish, maybe not the right size or species. All he was worried about was catching anything, so I guess we succeeded. And no, I didn't beat the kid while we were out there. Apparently a chair can put up a good fight.:D I think the chair won.

"the biggest catfish in the world"

His first crappie, and hopefully not the last.

    DR PEPPER-
Thanks for the gesture of attempting to give that cap to my son...He hardly ever quits talking, but tends to clam up around strangers....We were in the Tracker All Fish........As you know, we were not catching any.
Got to agree with you all on the inconciderate boaters out there. If I have ever blasted past anyone it is only because they were obstructed by trees and real close to the bank, and I didnt see them until too late, otherwise it doesnt hurt me none at all to slow down. Heck, just cruising and enjoying the river is just as much fun as catching fish!!
