Brought 25 home, caught 35 total. Some days it pays to work your way over the sand bars to the deep holes behind them.

Sorry, thought you could see the scale better than that, biggest fish was just over 14 inches long. You should have seen the one that got away! I thought it was a bass the way it hit, and when I got it to the top of the water and saw the size and what it was, I got the shakes. I tried to horse it into the boat rather than using the net, and I couldn't get it out of the water before it straightened my hook. But I know where it lives and will go see if I can entice it to bite again.

That's some good river fish. Those black slabs will weigh heavy.

You mean there is more than one River in Arkansas? Sorry, couldn't resist. Neither, the St. Francis.

I hear ya. Its funny how "The River" means different things to different people. In Central Arkansas, the river means the Arkansas River. When I lived in North Arkansas, it meant the White River.

I understand exactly Matt, then to take it to the next level, unless you know "the river", when people start talking about places like "the wide water" and "fish head" or "stud horse" or "dynamite run", you get totally lost. Heck around here, before all the duck blinds were burned, people used to reference duck blinds. Now it is "you know where 'so and so's' blind was. I can remember when I started running the river by myself, I was on a first name basis with most of the stumps out there. Since the levee breech, the river is so low that you have to pretty much know where the old river channel was or you wind up idling everywhere because of the sand bars and the stumps that you forgot about over the years. But after it is all said and done, I still have to agree with my dad in that I don't think God created a prettier place than that swamp out there.

Great fish, gzrglide. The river was my late fil's favorite place in this world, too. Wish I spent more time on it now.

If it was the sand bar on the left I got stuck on it Sunday. Thanks for the info glider. I will see you out there soon. I spent most of the day looking around. Not sure were I was. Made it to a duck camp on left. Caught 1 fish. Only fished 15 min. I will learn that river with a little help. Saw my first bald eagle of the year. Had the wife with me so she likes boat riding.
