The 2nd annual Crappie for a Cause event went as planned with many good bids being received. Again, for the 2nd year in a row "Walker733" placed the winning bid but asked this year for it to remain anonymous. For this reason I will not disclose his bid but I will tell you it was impressive and one that was made from the depths of his kindness and his heart.
On to the more important part, the charity of his choice. I am adding this short insert about his charity "Riley's Journey".
Riley was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, Medulloblastoma, in July 2008, when she was 7 yrs. old. She endured a 13 hr. surgery to remove the tumor, followed by another 5 hr. surgery to remove residual tumor less than a week later, then 30 rounds of radiation & 8 rounds of chemo. We finished her treatment in June 2009 & we have been receiving the "ALL CLEAR" on her scans for 4 yrs. (from the date of tumor removal) until last July 2012, when it was confirmed that a small spot they were concerned about was, in fact, recurrence. The plan is to perform Cyberknife Radiosurgery on the small spot, which removed the tumor and followed by a year of at home chemo in the form of a pill as a precaution. This page was created to keep our family & friends updated on her 2nd Journey with this disease.
UPDATE 7/2013:
We found out that the tumor returned yet again...this time much bigger and in a different place...actually inside the cerebellum. She now has undergone another surgery to remove the tumor & will undergo high dose chemo with stem cell rescue/transplant. She has another long road ahead of her but she will overcome!!
As you can see the charity chosen by Mr. Walker is a young girl who has had many struggles in her life and she is barely 13 years of age. What an awesome way to show your generosity!!!
Again, thank you Brett for your generosity and a BIG thank you for all that bid.

Thanks Dennis for this hard work on helping Riley out. Cancer a hard battle to fight but there are winner. I lost my mom with this same cancer in 97. Then there was no recover from it. Now here the acer to prayer and hard work.
All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason.
Thanks to BnM PST, Midsouth Jig, Big River Marina
Dennis, That is a wonderful event you have started that reveals a high level of true kindness and generosity. This young lady has an entire life ahead of her and you guys are helping to make it happen for her! That's fantastic!
From the ARK-LA-MISS Delta....... Crappie Paradise ! ! ! !
Dennis and all Crappie.comers, thank you all for the opportunity to be able to help with this event. I have known Riley's family for a number of years and am so thankful that Dennis was kind enough to put this event on and that I could help out with a SUPER young lady who needs all the assistance she can get.
I would like for anyone who has ever dealt with Cancer or really all of you out there to make a small contribution on Riley's behalf. God knows if anyone deserves our help it is Riley.
Again Dennis thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contributions on this event.

Thanks guys for the comments but I have done nothing but coordinated the event and went fishing. When I compare my efforts to that of the little girl's, they are minimal in comparison. I know most of us have had a "Riley" in our lives and some may ask why do this for what WAS a complete stranger in my life. My only answer is " my reward is not of this earth, but in heaven"........
As a father of 5 and the youngest now at 6, I can only imagine what this family has been through. I am sitting here watching my 6 year old ride her bike and the thought of her taking Riley's journey completely tears at me. I hope and pray everyday my family is never in this position but I also hope and pray God gives me the strength and willingness to continue to help those that need it.
At the end of my time, I do not want to be remembered as someone who could catch fish, run pro trails or pro staff for them or them. I want to be remembered as the guy who helped those in need. I promise you I would trade not ever catching another crappie for Riley's complete and successful recovery. I challenge all of you who have been given the means to do so, create your own way of helping others. You will be surprised at the feeling you have when you do so.
