CMJ is giving you the best two peices of advice to get started. I can add; try installing a "Bigfoot" button on the ground side of your trolling motor. This will allow you to take your foot off of the pedal once you get it aimed right. I also took my foot controled off and replaced it with a tiller type handel. I fish out of a stick steer. So, I can rare back in the seat and steer with the big motor and vary rarely touch the trolling motor. I learned on my most recent trip to never idel the TM in the event you catch a fish. I found just slowing it down and never stopping it will solve a line in the prop problem. (See my "You ain't gonna beleive this" post). Oh yea, I always troll with the wind. Saves my battery and more boat control.

Lower trolling motor to help slow you down a bit.. 1.7 is my best speed too. Some folks idle the gas motor and steer with the trolling motor. Pull a drift sock or two. Cheap at Academy. Raise outboard to help save battery. At greers use 30 pound braid and get a lure retriever or you will lose some bandits. Black bubblegum is a good color about everywhere. Grenada shad works too. Pink is good in Mississippi but not sure here. Good luck.

Thanks for all the reply's. I have read through the Pulling Cranks 101... trying to absorb it all. Ordered 5 Okuma Pro 20's and a couple rods. I also slipped up and ended up ordering 25 More Bandits. Some in colors that worked, and some from the sale page. Probably going to be middle of month before I can get back on water and try some new tricks out, and the new reels/lures. Leaning toward 30# braid, bought a 30 pound Stealth, and 30 pound power pro, see which I like better. Probably just put some 15# mono on as backing that I have on hand already.

Trollers troll. Hammer down and find the brush pile ubder the narrows bridge. Ive been on several dives up there and its the biggest one ive ever seen and is full of fish lookin at you with defensive eyes. Anchor, chill, drown a minner or twelve, set the hook, repeat.

I will have to try that spot out, now that ski season is coming to an end, and fishing season is kicking up. Last time I fished near narrows I thought I was going to take a swim from all the wake makers, but have a bigger boat now so may give it a try again.

Great start! I have the same boat and trying to get it rigged up like you are but also having the same problems (getting expensive). I would love to see some pictures of how you mounted your Cumberland 360 rod holder and know what's your thoughts about them. Any advise is excepted...

Will see if I can get some pictures posted. I am by no means an expert on the subject, just a little fish trying to figure out the best methods. I wish I would have ordered a couple extra mounts to start off with. I ordered a 4 rod, and a solo rod to start off with. Since I am solo in the boat ~50-75% of the time I wish I would have ordered 2 - 2 Rod mounts with 2 extra bases. Three-Four is max rods I would want to try solo until I get the hang of it better. I mounted the 4 Rod holder on passenger side, just behing the rod locker, three rods trolling sideways was too much solo. 2 out each side seemed better. I ended up with two out passenger side, one out the back on driver side, just slide down by the throttle column, and one out the driver side on the 360 Solo Holder.
I seem to be catching multiple different species trolling, so not sure I am doing it "right"by crappie standards, but putting fish in the boat. As for the 360's well they are pretty nice, I don't have much to compare them to, but landed a 24" Walleye outta one last week and it didn't budge. I can see the possibility of reverse threads for one side of boat, but once I got them dialed in I really liked them.
