Check battery connection , check plug in, check fuse! That's about the only things that could be wrong!

To start off, I know very little about the inner workings of trolling motors or wiring for that matter.
I was running the TM (brand new MK PD V2 55lbs) in the river the other day on continuous run and it just quit altogether. My first thought is fuse. The fuse doesn't look blown, but I'm not even sure about that. It is a 20 Amp/250 Volt inline glass fuse. I was already debating going to a 40 or 50 amp breaker. Also, I am going to get a multimeter and check the plug at the front of the boat.
I am not even sure what the problem is. Very frustrating.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated

If you have a constant on/momentary on switch at the side of the foot control, make sure it is set in the momentary position not in the off position. If the switch is in momentary on then select constant on, if the motor runs then your on/off switch (one you press to go forward with your foot) is bad.
Ditch the fuse and put a 50 amp breaker in. The connections in those inline fuse holders are a failure waiting to happen
Thank all of y'all for your responses. And toofuss, that is exactly what I am doing this afternoon.
Also, one thing I forgot to add is that that battery test light doesn't light up. It's not getting power at all for whatever reason.
I think a 50amp breaker is recommended. My Terrova 55 would trip a 40 if ran on high for any length of time. If the fuse was just a 20, I would lean toward that being the problem. Just change the fuse and hit the on button. If it comes on, shut it down and go get a 50amp breaker. Be sure you have large enough wire from the battery to the TM to carry the load.
By the time I got this typed and posted, looks like you already got this advice. With a light, it should be no trouble to find your problem.

My Terrova 55 calls for a 60 amp breaker
Mine has a breaker, BUT, if I run too long on high (#5, Minn Kota Edge) the breaker will trip and I have to let it cool down for a while. I can run on high for several minutes, then switch to lower speed for a while and it's fine. Just part of the learning curve. My old Motor guide didn't do that.
