David those look good !! the key to a crappie mount is the paint job!!!!!!!
Ski if want a good chance at a 3 lber you need to come down to Washington in feb or early march .you might just get your wish.
Thanks Jerry, I use a lot more colors than most taxidermist. I also put an eye in the back and paint the backside also. I also rebuild "all" the shrunken areas. Even the tongue, lips, and mandables. I was taught by Darrell Rollins in Little Rock. He was a competition taxidermist and has won several regional and national awards with his crappie mounts.
I will bring you a couple of 3 lbers this year I hope!!!!
Darrel Rollins was the best around but he is no longer in business , how much taxidermy do you do David ?
Greg, Yea, Darrell retired from taxidermy full time to move up to Mtn. View to pursue his interest in making mandolins for playing bluegrass music. all I do now is fish. Limited on working space. May do deer in another year or 2 when I build a bigger shop. I am out there right now mounting this dude up. He'll be in the bait shop when he's through.

Ski, to properly take care of a fish for mounting, wrap in a wet towel ASAP and place in a plastic bag and freeze. They will keep for a year easily. Don't let the tail or fins get damaged if you can keep from it. Try to avoid letting them knock any scales out by throwing them in an ice chest with other fish or in a crowded livewell.
Most taxidermist have a turn-around period of 6 months to a year. Right now mine is considerably shorter. I'm about halfway done with one I took in a few weeks ago.
Greg you and ski are welcome any time!!!!! hopefully I want get sick when you make it down this time and it won't rain for two days and the wind blow 20 miles a hr. I think we are going to have a good spring.
