Default Crappie Purists Don't Click Here - Warning Walleye Present

OK, so here is the follow up to my other thread with Greer's Ferry walleye. We were trying to shoot an episode of 'Talkin Outdoors', and the pictures on the other thread were from the preview trip last Friday. This thread was from yesterday's (6/6/13) trip which was the real deal.

The Talkin Outdoors folks have been trying to shoot a walleye fishing show for the last four years, but have never been able to get the catching part on film. They had gone with a cople of different guides and always came back empty handed. I told them I thought I had a guy that could catch them during the summer.

So, I got Dr. Jerry Ludwig to join us for a day of walleye fishing on Greer's. We caught them well on the practice day (7 fish in 7 hours). Still, as soon as you bring a camera or a video camera along, you can throw logic out the window.

Long story short, we caught them and our video and photo guys got a bunch of good material, including underwater shots. Over the course of the day we caught nine walleye, four drum, two smallmouth and a hybrid striped bass. All fish were caught on bottom bouncing rigs with crawler harnesses and night crawlers, and all were +/- 2 ft of the thermocline which was at 26 ft. For more information on these techniques tune in for the episode Which should air in the three to five week range and I will share the link for the video when it's available.

Good catch, that's one fish I don't know much about. Would like to learn.

Good Catch and those are some great eating. My perfect day on Greers would be a limit of crappie then a limit of walleye.

A crappie MIGHT be close to eating as good as a walleye, but I don't think so myself!!!! I do like crappie really well tho.
