    Default Fishing Flood Waters

I have been trying to think of different places to fish and I saw where the water has jumped back up in our duck lease. It is right off of the Ouachita River and we have an old Oxbow on it that is probably around 10' deep right now. Based on yall's experiences would this be a waste of time or would you say try it?

Chances are the oxbow would be a bust! Some times after water settles high water on some lakes will produce. It can on Nimrod but right now it is muddy as I've ever seen. I would try to find waters not flooded. Dardanelle could be getting good if water is clearing up in the bays. Usually the bays on Dardanelle clear up quickly if the Corps are pulling water on the river.

Any suggestions on some places different for me that might be worth the trip. I've fished lake village, grand, and Felsenthal. Mississippi is up so all of those river lakes are out. Not wanting a really big road trip, I'm in Crossett.

Jmike, I would suggest not fishing this and bringing me in to evaluate the whole situation during duck season. I am able to look down a barrel at some greenheads back peddling at 20 yard and immediately tell if it would be worth fishing during flood stage.

Lake Washington, MS just south of Greenville, MS on Hwy 1, about 20 miles. 3 day MS lic is about $17 to $18 dollars. We have caught some nice fish there.

The Mississippi doesn't affect Chicot or Grand.

Paper today said they're tearing them up in the backwater of the Ark River in flooded territory.

I have NO idea how anyone other than the landowners are getting access to such waters, however.

My thoughts are that if the water is clear, it might be worth a try. I would focus more around the edges of the oxbow or in the woods around it(if there are woods around it). I live just a couple of miles from the Mississippi River and we fish some backwater once in a while. It's a little tough to find them sometimes, but if you do, it should be good.

A bad day fishing sure beats work.

RCC, your willingness to do things for others is amazing. Not many would be willing to do this for others like you.
