Just got back from a two week camping trip to Lake Charles. The weather was great and a good time was had by all. I caught at least 700 crappie during my stay, but only caught about 30 that had any size to them. My wife, daughter, son and father-in-law all were able to get in on some of the action. Not sure if they were spawning or not, but caught just about everything in shallow water with my jigging pole. Color did not seem to matter too much. I would notice a differnce on a couple of colors, but mostly they would hit anything. Caught a couple in the 12" range and down to around 9" for my 30 bigger ones. Tried trolling to get something bigger, but just small ones there also. Caught some bass and catfish on my jigging pole which got exciting from time to time.
Where is Lake Charles? Guess you had fun and sounds like caught enough for a fish fry or two.![]()

Lake Charles is located near Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. I ended up with about 3 gallons of fillets, which alot them came from jugging for catfish. Nimrod, I did the things you suggested and it sured worked out great. The 1/8 oz jigs with the umbrella tubes caught the majority of the fish. It amazed me how many 5" to 6" fish hit that setup.
that a lot of Bream there. All you need is a hook in that picture.
All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason.
