    Default Pro, Pro Staff, Semi-Pro...

When it comes to crappie fishing there are several well-defined levels of experience. There are pros, pro-staff, and semi-pros, all of which are pretty well capable of coaxing a crappie into biting even when he has no natural inclination to do so.

Instead of going fishing, like us mere mortals, these guys go catching… by the boatload. In spite of dropping temperatures and fluctuating barometers, in complete disregard of bad weather, these guys are like the mailman, they always deliver.

    Then there’s the anti-pro. That’s where I come in. I am the quintessential anti-pro.

Consider the evidence: I bought a boat this year. I bought it early in order to be ready for the crappie spawn. I bought it just before spring was getting ready to make its grand entrance. However, several months later, spring is still waiting to make its grand entrance.

It’s been the second coldest spring on record, the first time ever that there has been snowfall in the month of May in Arkansas… All because I bought a boat!

I was reading some of RCCs writings the other day and immediately recognized a fellow anti-pro. The anti-pro is capable of singlehandedly bringing the bite to a complete stop on any body of water under any conditions. Just read the chronicles of RCCs vacations, otherwise productive bodies of water refuse to yield anything but Grinnell, Green Carp and Drum when he’s in town.

The anti-pro is a veritable expert in everything that has to do with crappie fishing… except catching fish! We know which color you should use on which day. We know how deep to fish in the spring, and how fast to troll after the spawn.

We know the best approach for a broad variety of weather situations. If you’ve got a question, we have an answer! We know exactly what YOU should do to catch fish… We just can’t seem to figure out what WE should do to catch fish.

It is time for the Anti-Pros of the world to unite! If you recognize your own specific skill set in the description given above, you may also be an anti-pro. I suggest that perhaps we should form an allegiance. We could call it the League Of Semi-Extraordinary Rascals or LOSERS for short.

We could have our own trophy at spring camp for the guy who weighs in the most trash fish! We could hold clinics on what not to do in order to be successful. You know that old saying, “Carp-a-Diem” it applies here… It is time to seize the Carp! Lets take our skill set to new levels.

    LOSERS UNITE!

    I'm not really an anti-pro...I'm more of a semi-novice.

Tony, I don't know where I fall here. You say the anti-pro will make the fish quit biting on the day he shows up (at least for him). I'll relay a story and you tell me a what level you think I am.

Earlier this year, March the 21st to be exact, I left my home in the northeast corner of our fine state in order to head to Lake Conway and enjoy a weekend of fishing with some fine folks from CDC on the 23rd. (a tourney that was held by CACA) The fish had been biting and biting well and I think all of us remember ALL of those pictures that CrappiePro and CrappieGreg were posting along with several others that posted so many pictures of fish they are catching from Lake Conway.
At the tournament, to the best of my memory, 9 of 17 boats weighed in fish (i was not one that weighed fish). That I thought was a little strange since the fishing had been so good there. Since my appearance at that tournament, I don't think the fishing has returned to Lake Conway. I did notice that CP caught 8 or 9 the other day (had to be luck).
So at what level of Anti-Pro am I to kill the bite on a lake for darn near 60 days??
