    Default Shirley Bay Report

Took my 81 yo grandpa and my 5 yo fishing from 3-dark yesterday at Shirey. We had a good time but the fishing was much slower than I anticipated.

Had my little girl rigged up w a slip float and red worms for catching bream. She did manage 3 and 1 was a keeper. She had a blast but it was hard to keep her focused between catches.

My grandpa caught one keeper crappie and a really nice bream. Both were caught 5-6 ft deep in 11-12 fow. I've never seen the water that high at Shirey but water looked great and temps were 73-76.

It was tough to fish the cypress or brush line w so much green limbs and vegetation under the water that is normally above.

Fun time w a 4-generation span in the boat. I didn't get to do much fishing but I wouldn't trade yesterday afternoon for anything.
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

Great report. Count your blessings to have 4 generations in 1 boat. I figured the water was high at the Bay. Its going to be great when the water drops. Thanks again for the story. I would have loved to see some PICS

Great report. Sounds like the bite was slow everywhere.

Thanks guys, i need to put the old digital camera back in my boat. Its stored in my hunting stuff from deer season.

I spoke with two guys that had been fishing all day and even had yo-yos out and they hadn't done well at all. I felt better after their report; I thought it was just me

Thanks for the report. The water and goofy weather conditions were tough to deal with. I believe the wind blew from all points of the compass some time between Friday evening and Saturday evening. The bite was so crazy, I have a new saying "When the wind is from the east, they bite like a beast, when the wind is from the South, they shut their mouth" crazy bite I'm telling you.
