Buffalo River

And I did not list Dardanelle because I have no knowledge if there are any there or not. I did go to Piney one time this year (I forgot that trip, sorry) and tried methods and spots I was told about, and I caught one 8" crappie. So, I amend my list to add Piney Bay, but as for the actual Lake Dardanelle, I have no empirical knowledge. I'm going to BUY some GPS coordinates and go up there one day, I swear. Lakes with no visible cover stump me, without brushpile coordinates. Maybe one of my LOSER friends will sell me some coordinates.

The Buffalo is one nice river, though. One of the most beautiful places we have in this State. Makes me think that I'm American by birth, Southern by the Grace of God, and an Arkansan by blind luck.

Thanks for the info, I have checked up on the Regs for the area. We will be kayaking and canoeing down from Mt Hershey area (no motors). We have also purchased our fishing licenses for the time we will be there. My buddies and I are pretty strict about following rules, safety and other wise. It just makes sense. We also have a program where we take out more than we put in, i.e. trash and stuff not normally found in nature. EVERY time I'm on the water at a minimum I pick up 1 item of trash from the water. Its a good day when I have to look for the 1!

I like the sound of that "no skill" stuff! This is something I might should try...

If you will roll over a rock and catch a crawfish as you float down the river. You will see they are black or a dark color!!!! You can't beat a black red flake 2 1/2 in tube 1/8 oz leadhead on the buffalo river!!!

I believe he means a 1/8 oz leadhead jig............. with a black and red flake colored tube jig, about 2 1/2 inches long attached to it.

Bass Pro's tender tubes (salty) in black or greenpunkin or a dark color with the inside tube head 1/8 oz!!! Can look at bass pro's web site under bass tubes!!!! Hope this helps!!! Warning they are habit forming!!!

In addition to the smallmouth, you'll also find Ozark bass, a subspecies of Rock bass(google eye). They are so cool- they look like a cross between smallmouth and crappie. Even the smallest one fights like a tiger. I've had good luck with a thing they sell at wal-mart that's called the claw. I think the manufacturer is Renosky or something like that. It's kind a silly looking, just a lead head w/a small crawfish body, but drag that thing slowly across the bottom of the gravel and they'll nail it. Good luck. BTW, I have caught crappie at the confluence of the Buffalo and the White River. About blew my mind. Maybe we all should fish the buffalo one more time before the hog farm at Mt. Judea cranks up operation. Might not be the same after that.
