Crappie are snobby..... Why can't they be easy to catch...Like bass?
The few reports i have been hearing, fish have been sporadic. But the shoe has been the only lake in the area that ive heard of that is doing anything.
Fished there yesterday all day and didn't get a bite..The wind made for quite an exciting ride though...LOL.
There are some that are catching fish there. It just hasn't got easy yet.
We only sell the Best. Ranger, Xpress, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu.
I was there yesterday, caught a good mess of cats in 27 foot of water anchored. No crappie. Struck out at 75 today. shrugs.
Caught a few nice crappie this weekend at Horseshoe (just fishing from a pier, since it was so windy). Most were in about five ft. of water close to the piers. Everyone else I talked to on the lake wasn't doing anything. Will also catch a bream about every third fish (and the occasional catfish or drum that you think is a slab). This pic was from last year around this time.
Funny thing about Horseshoe is I have never caught a crappie there on a minnow. Ever. Despite buying minnows nearly every time out. I have caught crappie on crickets and nightcrawlers bream fishing. I have success tipping jigs with crappie nibblets or wax worms. But never with minnows. Here is one from yesterday:

Glad you caught a few...good fish!
Got back out at it yesterday. Slow going. Earlier in the week, they were in the canals and someone caught 70 on Tuesday. The cold front sent them a little deeper. Biggest was a little over 1.5 lbs.

Gars were mating in the shallows. Now that's something you don't see everyday....
