If you have had success baiting them out how do you do it? I've made bait stations with 4 to 6" PVC with holes drilled in it and a removable top to add the bait. We have tied these in cedar tops at around 16' deep in 18-25FOW. I can't even remember what we baited them with though. I've heard alfalfa, dog food, rabbit pellets. So what do you guys use and have you ever heard of using cotton seed cake?? I've heard you can draw crappie 1st then the cats move in and your crappie move out? I've also heard all you need is brush.

I found a hole years ago in Texas. Loaded up on crappie and the occasional catfish with milo spewing out. I have tried it a few times with alfalfa range cubes, dry ole Roy in panty hose, or canned dog food. Can't say I have ever been successful in making a hole this way. I have sunk rice on the end of the dock here at the port of little Rock before. After a couple of days we caught many catfish. They were so full of rice it was spewing out of every oriface. We don't handel rice any more or I would be in the commercial business.
Do a search on cottonseed cake. I saw it a few years ago.

Never baited crappie, but I heard a pretty cool idea about baiting bream and catfish.. Roadkill hung from a limb a foot off the water.

I baited a hole for crappie and ruined my trail cam trying to see if there was any fish on it.

My buddy used to put out cotton seed cake while we fished. I don't really know how well it worked but it sure attracted baitfish.

Now this I'll have to try cause we had a terrible time catching trotline bait here a week or so ago and I had a perch trap out and everything!
The dead critter hanging from the limb thing I'll have to try also, I love some big bull bream, course you might need a gas mask just to fish the area after the critter has been out a few days, lol. My luck an old buzzard would come along and steal it the 1st day I put it out.
