    Default trolling motor

The more I read, the more confused I am. Can any of you offer advice on a new trolling motor? I am looking at the minn kota power drive v2 55, the terrova 55, and the maxxum 55. I single pole this time a year and troll summer/ fall. Do any of you with a power drive/terrova have any issues with bank fishing, etc. Everything I read says the pedals don't respond very fast etc. I know they will be great for trolling, but I don't know how they would be for bank fishing. Any advice/help is appreciated.

    I don't like them...
I have had both. The electric steer only turns one speed...
I find myself, depending on several variables... Needing sometimes to instantly turn the motor around backwards for reverse.. The electric steers make this impossible...

If you are fishing close quarters.. ie. cypress groves. Or are having to maneuver in windy situations I would bet your not going to be happy with the electric steer.
In shallow water they are some noisy little boogers also...

Maybe you can hook up with one of these guys and go on a test drive?
Might could visit a showroom and get a feel for it?

If you go with a power drive or terrova, you should defintely invest in the iPilot or CoPilot. The foot pedals suck for steering.

If you do a lot of trolling then get a terrova with Ipilot. Practice with the foot pedal and it is usable. Not as good as cable but is usable. If you just jig fish once in a while idhave the Terrova then get a cheap hand control to mount on the side of the boat for that. I can't run a foot control good enough to jig fish with one. Used hand control since the early 70's for everything until I got my terrova. Have used a Pdv2 and no comparison to me.

You're saying there is no comparison between the power drive v2 and the terrova foot pedal, or you mean there is no difference between the cable drive and the electric trolling motor.

The terrova foot pedal operates more like the cable steer. The Terrova all around is a better motor than the PDv2.

    I don't use a Trolling Motor when I bank fish. I use a 4-Wheeler.
