    Default Making noodles for horseshoe?

I'm making some noodles for lake horseshoe near hughes..I was planning on going next weekend but don't didn't know how many feet to make the line go and how many hooks to put on each one. I've never went jug fishing before so I just wanted to know the basics...Do you just throw the jugs out in the middle of the lake and let them float or is there some strategy on how to let them go? Also, what would be good bait for them..Thanks for all your help.

When i ran jugs i used pop bottles. Noodles work very good. Dont forget to include the proper information on the noodle. The strategy I used was to put them up wind on the lake and then go run em every hour depending on the size of lake. The bigger the lake the harder they are to keep up with in a good wind. Place a piece of reflective tape on them makes them easier to see with spot light if running at night. I usually put a bell wt and a hook on about 7-9 ft line depending on water depth as you dont want them to snag up. I used liver or dog food depending on target fish.

I run some 32oz sports drink bottles painted for ez seeing. I set my hooks from 3 to 6 deep with a #5 hook. I put a rock or two in bottle to slow down drift and to be a ringer when fish hit them. Marble wrk great also.
All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason.

Make some different depths, or tie on a line that you can adjust the depth of on the noodles. 3-12' depths depending on the fish and area. I used to Noodle the Shoe all the time. 4" whole shad for bait if you can find some with a throw net. I used a #7 circle hook or Kahle hook. The Humpbacks, or Fultons as some call them, are good eating this time of year.

I used to set a row of noodles while I was spider rigging, and when a noodle stood up, I'd go run it. I did use Yo-Yo's on my noodles to adjust the line depth. It works good like that, but it makes the noodle ride a bit high in the water.

Blues and Flatheads hit slicks (green sunfish) really well. Channels will also hit the slicks, this time of year they should be feeding up heavily getting ready for spawn.

May want to consider buying your noodles to save you some time. Bass pro and walmart both carry them for $5 a piece. You just have to add the line.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
