    Default Sat. Report Shirey Bay

My dad and I ended up fishing Shirey yesterday from about 9-2. We did ok and came home w 6 keepers. It actually wasn't a bad day to fish yesterday; we kept warm and were able to get out of the wind most of the day. We started out jigging trees and structure along deeper bank lines; then moved to a slow troll technique about 10 yards away from outer bank structure and that is how we found the fish. Caught them about 4-6 ft deep in 7-9 fow. We used a comb of black/wht, black/chart, and a smoke/sparkle jigs. No clue on water temp because I left my finder at home which was really frustrating! But I had a great day with my dad yesterday; we haven't been able to fish together much over the past 13 years. Glad to be living back in AR now!

We were proud of ourselves for finding any at all especially since we don't troll and aren't set up to troll. We felt pretty good until we went to the other end of the bay and watched two different boats put on a spider rigging clinic! They definitely knew what they were doing. It wasn't fast action but consistent.

Also, we drove over to Robinson Bay first to see if we could launch because I felt Shirey had been yo-yo'd pretty hard lately. The bay looked great but we didn't feel like we could launch without possibly getting stuck and didn't want to chance it. Shirey and Robinson have way better water clarity over Portia right now.
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

I hear you. I have 4x4 too and it takes a lot for me to back down w stuff like that. But it was so slick there and I have to back a good ways in over the drop off to float off the trailer. I felt like there was no way I would ever get enough traction to pull back up over the hump especially w the trailer tires sunk in the mud. I love that bay though.

Turtlebait, is that further down the road past where the two spots that are dirt launches are? I guess I have never went down the gravel further than the spot where you go into the woods to the two dirt launches.

Yes it is,came by there two weeks ago and one was stuck there too,but he had backed down to far.Its pretty steep but have seen two wheel drives unload and load.I never slipped a tire(4wd) last year but haven't fished it this year,I know the water looks good.
