I've got a 17-54 with 40 Merc and 46# MG. Big motor goes plenty fast for me, TM is a gutless nuisance, anything over 10mph wind and it won't pull against it. Love 17-54's, they'll fish anywhere for anything

Dont do it! You will hate having a good boat that doesnt need fixed! Plus the warranty incase something goes wrong sounds horrible! Did i talk ya out of it? Lol
I have a 1754 war eagle with a 50 merc on it. Bout 30-35 is top speed depending on conditions with 2 people. Plenty fast for me. Started out with a 55 lb Mk and now have a 80 lb Mk terrova. The 55 pushed the boat great but ya can't beat the terrova.
45# in the wind won't be nearly enuff
I'm not sure, but I think Steve48 on here has a Tracker Grizzly for sale. Nice boat. Well taken care of and garage kept. Selling because he's got a bigger, better Tracker and doesn't need two boats. You ought to send him a pm and see if he still has it, and if he still wants to sell it. He's got pics he can send you too! Steve's a stand-up guy too, so if he tells you something, you can take it to the bank!
Got a 17/54 WarEagle stick steer. Had a 46 MG on it. Useless, went to a 55 terrova. No comparison. If it was me I'd cut back on electronics and spend extra on troller. Finder not much good if you can't fish the spots you find. 50 would be plenty motor. I agree with G if your going to be making payments any way I'd sure look at some other brands and get pricing before I signed up on a tracker.
Just don't settle for the first one you look at. Call around and see what you can find. I agree that a 46 won't be nearly enough and if you are financing it getting the depthfinders and tm you want shouldn't make a whole lot of diff. Could probably find a dealer who will take a little off the price of the boat to make the electronics happen. Hope this helps

i would go no lower than a 70# trolling motor with variable speed. i have a 17 foot boat with a 55# and it sucks in the wind and current
$200 a month for 10 years. How much will gas be by then? I'd just go with RCC. Now that outta talk you out of it for sure.:Rofl
50 ponies on a 17/54 is plenty of outboard, if you are going to make a upgrade to the boat before you purchase, put atleast a 24 volt 70 pound thrust trolling motor on it.
