Default Banner Day on Little Maumelle

I just had to skip class today and go crappie fishing. I fished from the launch to about a half mile past the marina and back and caught over 100 crappie. I went thru all my minnows in about 2 hours and started fishing jigs. 4 of the fish were over 16 inches with one almost 18. I was catching jig fish off a purple and silver jig tipped with a maggot or crappie nibble fishing from 5 to 10feet deep juston the outside of visible brush. Going back tomorrow and going to fish all day. There was 2 boat loads of retired dudes out there and all of them had limits of crappie and they said this is about the 5th time in the past 2 weeks they have been catching them like this. One dude who was about 80 said this week was the best crappie fishing he has ever seen in his life on the Little Maumelle. Its just a shame ya'll cant get out there and try em with work and all. Oh well I guess you will feel better knowing that I made up the above mentioned story just to get your blood pumping for a minute. The board was kind of dead, so I thought I might post this email that Gooch sent me back last semester. Back to studying.

    Default Fantasy world...

    CEB,
That was a cold thing to do! I was already thinking of ways to leave work, head out there in my slacks and tie to meet you and jump in the boat with you!:D :D
Be very careful of these type post, they are not good for my heart or a lot of other members on here. I was starting to feel a little light headed and had a feeling down deep I haven't felt since the wife got pregnant!

Oh man you got me for sure. I didnt finish reading the post when my boss came walking by my office for his daily early exit from work. I quickly thought up a lie, told him I had a Doctor's appointment in the morning and would be in arround 10:00 and would just work thur lunch the next two days to make up for it. Then I read the last of the post.
CEB being a master joker myself you may have bitten off more than you can chew. Do you not remember I work with a 8 month pregnate woman who for a gallon of ice cream would gladly bust up into your school screaming your name and demanding you show for a peternity test? Or perhaps I should set up your profile on alt.com (dont go there folks) its a partner finder for those with alternitive lifestlyes. Or perhaps I should just go out to the Little Maumelle this fall when they really are biting like this and catch a cooler full while you have your hand in a cadiver? Not sure what plan of attack I will choose but I feel I need to do something since I now have to work thru lunch the next two days.

Good one man. At least you may have generated some activity on the board.

Damn Chris! What kind of doctor are you studying to be? A proctologist? Well...you did get a little excitement going. I fished the Little Maumelle hard last Sunday evening. Nothing. Finally started in on the bream. All very small.

Cane Breaker you will sure be close to the little Maumelle when you are at wild river country. You will see it when you are on I-430 heading south and just as you get to the Little Rock side of the bridge. It will be on your right side. Sorry I wont be there to meet and greet as I will be heading south on vacation. You might catch CEB or some others out there though. Enjoy the grandkids while the weather is hot and catch up on your fishing later. Fall Crappie camp is just arround the corner and will offer you an excelent opportunity to swap lies and catch some slabs in a beautiful enviroment.

Dont be a bad infulence Pox. I have me the perfect fishing pard in the making. CEB will be a fat cat doctor with time to fish and scout fish. Money to pay for his buddys bait, ice, and liquid meds. Have the knowlege and ability to remove hooks from my head, an arsenal of nurses. So dont screw this up by sending him down a career path that didnt work out for you.

Turns out that this post is a little pay back for what I did to him. All he did to make this post is copy and paste a email I sent him this spring to get his blood boiling. He was stuck in school studying and I knew it would kill him to not be able to get out there. Unfortunately I didnt remember the email/post when I read it, so I am stuck going in late tommorow since I already told the boss I would be in late.

Sorry, compadres. I just had to post a revised version of that post Gooch sent me a while back. I didn't actually intend on anyone changing the course of their daily activites, Gooch...I guess it pays you back because I sure took it hook, line, and sinker.

Hey Pox, I always did want an early retirement...:D

Classes haven't been too tough, yet. I sit in class thinking about being out there on the river. But, it makes me feel a little bit better that the fishing right now is less than desirable. To anyone interested, we still need to all get together one weekend (when it cools off into the low 90's at least) and let everyone meet each other. Maybe get something going in the direction of a crappie club for all of us.
