One night we were catching them by the hundreds under the 89 bridge..
Just start swinging them around with our rods faster and faster and SPLAT on the pillars!
You could walk across the water there was so many belly up!
Now we call them paddle fish...
Toss em up and SMACK with the paddle!

Count your blessings that the Asian Carp haven't made it over here yet. Took a 15 pounder to the jaw last year on Reelfoot. They'll break poles and throw stuff out of the boat with their tail while thrashing around. To add insult to injury, they bleed and slime as soon as they hit the deck. Nasty, nasty creatures.
"Landed" this one last fall.

While saying goodbye to my motor before tossing it into the water we slammed into the channel buoy and the motor fell into the boat turning it into shrapnel. After an hour swim for our lives in a flow rate we shouldn't have had a boat in, we spent another hour picking aluminum out of our faces, arms, and legs. 20 years later and I still have the nightmares.
