    Default Trolling Motor

Just wondering what size trolling motors you guys have on your boats? Looking at getting a new one and just wondering. I am looking at getting one at least 65lbs but don't know how long of a shaft I need to get. I have a 1650 Xpress.

I have a 70 lb thrust variable speed Minnkota Maxxum on my 16'x 48'' Aluma-Weld. Mine is too long and have to shallow the setting up. I think it is 42'' shaft.

A real important question to ask is, do you want a 12,24,or 36 volt trolling. I have a 24 volt 70lb thrust on my excel 17/51

I've got a 24 volt 70# thrust Minn Kota Maxxum on an 18 x 60 boat. Upgraded from a 12 volt 55#. This 70# is all I need where the old one would burn through the battery in half a day on 15-20 mph wind. I have yet to drain the battery over half way on a full day of fishing.
I wish I would have made the Chang sooner!

My old skeeter has a motorguide 67LB that I put on it back in 99 when I got the boat. It's a 90 model 18 1/2' skeeter with 150 merc on it. I wouldn't have gotten any smaller that's for sure. wish I had an 80 myself some days. I'd say on that boat I'd go with at least in the 50's awh heck go with that 60 something you mentioned for windy days.

Over about 80LB and you will end up going to a 36volt though. I'd say a 24volt system would be good with least 60LB thrust or so.
