Trolling Motor

Is there anything like being over powered with a TM? I seen to over kill about everything.

In my opinion go larger on thrust than what you think you need, you can always turn the throttle down but when you ain't got enough trolling power you just ain't got enough. My 24 volt 70 is way more than enough for my 17/51 excel.

First question, how do you fish? Jig, spider rig, long line, pull cranks or all the above? I have a 55 Terova on a 17.9 WarEagle with 2 group 27's hooked together have fished in some pretty rough winds and no complaints. If it won't hold on that size boat it's past time to be off the lake. I can slow troll or long line all day and hardly pull the batteries down. Start pulling cranks and good for about 4/5 hrs. If going to pull cranks get a 24 Terova larger motor than PD. If you can afford it the 24 and added battery are worth the extra money since the variable speed still let's you run at a crawl. Same things are true also with the cable steers. Get the variable speed instead of a 5 speed. 2 or 3 times more run time. Way more control over your speed also.

i got a 17ft grumman with a 55# and wish every day i go out i had gotten the 70#

Thanks guys I think I'm going to go with the 24 70#. Now I've just got to come up with the GreenBacks to pay for it! Lol
