Don't know real close but Dardanelle, Nimrod, and Blue Mountain are good. There are several small lakes like Hinkle also. Get you a Game and Fish Atlas the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission sales. It is a county by county map book with most of the access points to lakes and rivers around. Welcome to the site from Nimrod Lake. You did not mention , are you bank fishing?

Not familiar with the area either, but Dardanelle is worth the 1 1/2hr drive if thats possible for you. I pass three good lakes on the way to the lake, but it pays off.

I live here in Alma and have fished along the river but have not found a honey hole. Blue mountain is good maybe 45 minutes to get there. Same with Wister if you don't mind fishing Oklahoma. I've heard there is good fishing at White Oak between Mulberry and Ozark but haven't been there to confirm this. Also I have fished clear creek by Kibler and only caught 3 crappie out of there. If you find a good honey hole or find a decent place to fish be sure to PM me.

There is a small game and fish lake on the east side of Greenwood and another just west of Greenwood real close to the Oklahoma line....might be better suited to fishing with kids than the river. The Ozark water supply lake is just north of the first Ozark exit coming from Ft. Smith....I have been told it holds large bream....i have not fished it for bream...it has a concrete ramp....you can use any size motor...but no wake.

Dyer and mulberry river are all back water off the Ar river no running water. Both are easy drive from fort smith, also there was some back water out in barling and lavaca also. if you look at Google maps you can see the backwaters there

I've done we'll at Blue Mountain. Not sure when they'll move into the lake more around the cypress at wave land but I doubt it will be long. Pm me I'll put you on em as best I can if you'd like.
