    Default Humminbird fishfinder

Hey guys im looking at getting a new fishfinder and was wanting one that you can hook up a handheld GPS to. I dont have a lot of money to throw at it so somewhere less than 300 dollar range is where im at. I asked humminbird about the 561 an they said you can hook up gps to it but i cant find anywhere on there sight or anywhere else for that matter that says you can. Just wondering if anyone on here has done it before, or has any suggestions.
thanks in advance for the help

I haven't done it on a 561, but I have done it on a 718. If the unit is GPS compatabile, there is a list, that I posted not too long ago of the cable you will need and the GPS unit that it will interface to. here is the link to the other thread.

I just checked on the humminbird site and it doesn't say anything about the 561 being GPS capable. I think I gave $169 for my 718 a few years back.

    I have a 778 connected to a Garmin GPSmap 76
2-3 years ago Bird no longer made the interface cable for bird - Garmin.
I purchased the bird cable with no ends and cut the end off a garmin cable, wired them together.
I download the 561 manual but I can't find anywhere that the 561 can hook to a GPS.
Notice other units under features will say GPS optional but not the 561

That is why I asked humminbird about the 561 an they said yes but I'm still not sure. I know the 700 series can be hooked up. I guess I'll just go with a 700 series to be safe.

If you catch them on sale that 587 bird has your GPS and DI for around $387 free shipping and no sales tax outa FL, Digital Oasis. I just got one and seem to be happy with it so far even though I would like my buddy to show me a little more about it. The other option would be to download the Navionics app for an Iphone assuming you had an Iphone.

I don't know anything about the handheld units but u can buy the 581i DI for $299 that has GPS in the unit. It's a nice unit for the money.
