I've got a couple of spider rigging questions to add as well. I've never done it before so it's gonna be a new experience. What's lb test line do u use? Do you jigs, minners? I also have see people mentioning adding extra weight to the lines. Do u just use egg sinkers or a drop shotrig? As far as poles go, I'm looking at some BNM pro staff trolling poles. An opinions on those?
I use 10lb hi-vis for my main line and 6-8lb lo-vis Stren for a leader. Some people use much heavier line for trolling brushy areas but this works fine for me, just use hooks that will bend and pull free. I only use jigs while vertical jigging, but I always take some minners if I plan on setting out the trolling poles. I start with jigs and minners at various depths until I start to get bit. Most people use casting sinkers on the bottom or egg sinkers between the two hooks, but I just buy the cheap lead sinkers and they work fine. My poles are 14' Firecast trolling Rods. B&Ms are good too.

I use 12lb hi vis main line with a 10lb leader with 2 hooks about 20in apart with a egg weight in between the two hooks and some time I use a leader with a weight on the bottom. I try and use a 1/2 oz most of the time but that depends on depth, wind and speed.99% of the time I use minner critters (weightless jig) tipped with a minnow.

This could get interesting you have asked the one question that will get ABH and MG going. As far as poles I now use exclusively 14' Ozark Rods. I started off with PST and they work but now after catching quite a few fish on my Ozarks I love them. There are several suppliers of them on this forum. If I am spider rigging I always tip my jigs with minnows. I use a 3/8 -1/2oz sinker about 12" above a 1/32 jig. I also use a Capps and Coleman rig. That is what MG was explaining you can google how to make a capps and coleman rig and come up with all kinds of ways to tie it. I also use 8lb hi vis line. Also if you are looking into spider rigging you ought to come to the spring crappie camp at Dardanelle. There will be several people there that would be happy to help with any questions.
Does anybody frown upon spider riggers?
I don't care who frowns i will fish the way i want and they can fish the way they want and we both will be happy !!!!
The ozark 14ft trolling poles are the best on the market along with the hi-tec pole holders !!!!!!
