Default Arkansas River near Cook's Landing

Was going to try the Little Maumelle yesterday afternoon, but the parking lot was PACKED OUT! So I tossed out at Cook's Landing on the other side of the river and fished around that area. Came up dry. Saw a bunch of smaller fish on the fishfinder around structure, but couldn't get a bite.

Thanks, my Better Half tends to get bored when I'm fishing, so she'll start taking a bunch of pictures.

Find any dead bodies in them snags? There've been several through the years found there.

Not sure whey they have the trail parking lot closed off down there, that ramp parking lot has been packed every time I go by. They have a kayak launch at Two Rivers Park, you have to paddle out around the point but it isn't much further than the 430 boat ramp.

Heck yeah. Bridge jumpers. A couple years ago, a guy was living on an island a mile or so upstream and was paddling his boat over to the Maumelle side and dumped his boat about this time of year and couldn't make it back in his boat or to the bank. They found him a day later in those exact snags.

I set nets out close to where you're at in that picture and I'm always spooked about finding a jumper one night in a net.

The coordinates for the ramp are 34°48'04"N, 92°23'58"W. There is a little sidewalk that goes down from a parking area to the water. Proabably a hundred feet or so. I looked on google earth and it is .5 mile to the point where the bench is, same distance as from the 430 boat ramp. It is a small parking lot, probably only holds about 10 cars, so I guess there is a chance it could be full too. Another option though.

There is also a private ramp off of Pinnacle Valley Rd, off a side road. The maps show it a Burnett Rd. but the street sign says Sweetwater Rd. Right after you cross the tracks it is to the right. The coords for the ramp are 34°48'53"N, 92°26'25"W. You have to pay to use this ramp, put $5 in a black box at the ramp and off you go. It gets you to the upper part of Little Maumelle a lot quicker. You can go all the way up to Pinnacle Mountain if you drag through a couple of shoals way upstream.

And LA yard dog, I had seen that guy living out on that island, never knew that happened to him though.

Pretty good chance you've seen me in that area too. I've got a bunch of limblines around that island and I'm out there about every evening. I talked to that ole boy on the island a bunch. He seemed like an alright enough guy, but had some problems upstairs. He lived there for 2 or 3 years.

Good place to fish out there, last year I got a lot of catfish on yoyos out there. I will be out around there when it warms up, either in a canoe or kayak.
