According to meathead it would be a great day if you caught any. Guess your not fishing or not sharing with all the goofy posts.

That's the attitude that gets me through everyday at work. If your not pranking someone or busting on someone the day goes by so slow.

ABH I went bow hunting last year for the first time and had a blast. So far I went out and got a platform with lights, PSE bow, and generator. I can't wait to get back out there. We put in at fort smith park and ran all the way to garrison bridge. I bet we shot 70 fish with my 30 lb carp being the biggest of the night. I have a question though...do you eat any of the fish you shoot. I have heard buffalo ribs are good...had half a mind to try them out next time I shoot one. Any suggestions?

I guess it depends on how hungry you are and if you know how to cook it. Buffalo would be the only thing I would consider eating. Gar are too much work to clean and so are grennel, meat just falls apart unless you go thru and long drawn out process, which envolves keeping a live grennel in the boat.

Geagle i personally have not had buffalo. Gar on the other hand are not bad at all. Use time snips and cut down the back and filet the tenderloin off with knife. Usually bigger better so u get more meat (3ft or bigger). Cut into cubes and deep fry. I will say this that being successful bow fishing is just like any kind fishing too. Water temp and levels dictate where the fish move to. There is some good daytime shooting in the summer also for the big gars.

Gar real treat!!! Need a good pair of gloves the scales on a gar will cut your hands to pieces.Take a good sharp fillet knife slice from back of head to tail.Just use the point of the knife too the backbone.Like the tender loin on a deer.Pull the skin off no bones about a 2-3 lb gar.Brush melted butter on fillets, blackened salts, curry salts put on grill or open camp fire in( fish baskets)( keeps the fillets from falling apart) from wal-mart (Camping area)( wal-mart has different sizes baskets) for about 20 min or until done!!!We fixed Northern Pike in canada every day for shore lunch over a camp fire the same way unreal. Gar is not, walleye, crappie, catfish or flatheads but pretty good eating espically out of the cold White River!!!
