    Default New Crappie Fisherman

I am completely new to crappie fishing and am very eager to get into it. I live in Conway, AR. Can I get some tips on places near me to fish as well as a good "starter list" of things I need?

You will need the folowing :
boat, jig pole, jigs, net, cooler/live well, fillet knife, fish cooker, oil, corn meal, fries, hushpuppies, friends to help you eat them.

I think that should cover the basics of what you will need, but the friends will take care of its self when you start frying fish, they will show up from everywhere. Oh, and most importantly ALOT of time, because once you figure it out, you won't want to stop.

    Jokes aside, welcome aboard!

Welcome from Pine Bluff. You should be able to get any jigs you might need from several of the people on this sight. Come to crappie camp and you can find out most anything you wanted to know from these guys.

LM covered pretty much everything you need. If you are in Conway you have a lot of good fishing right around you.

    1 Conway
    2 Dardenelle
    3 Overcup
    4 Brewer
    5 Atkins
    6 Harris Brake

All these are pretty close to you and all hold good fish. There are several very good fisherman on here in that area and you should be able to get help. Just PM them and they are very willing to help.

Welcome from another Conway guy. Try making it to crappie camp in April on Dardanelle. Many great crappie fishermen, and women, will be there and I think you can learn a lot from just talking to them and listening. See the sticky at the top of the Arkansas forum page for sign up lists. Good to have you aboard!

Welcome. I'm a newbie too, so when you figure it all out, you can let me know.

I've just been reading a lot on these forums while getting set up for some trial and error myself. I ordered a starter set of tackle from Midsouth Tackle and they look like they might catch some fish if I put the jigs in the right place. Lots of folks here have lots of items and ideas to recommend. Afraid I don't have any input just yet, but I'm hoping to change that by spring.
