good job greg !!!!
Gonna feed em some Meatgetters next time I go Jerry , having trouble keeping the skirts on due to allot of missed strikes in the dark, the hair jigs should save allot of time not having to readjust the tube after every strike
You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take country out of the boy
they will eat it i promise !! (SPAKKY ) caught a double limit up there a few ago !!!!
Observation..... Greg caught these in 1.5 to 2 FOW ??? If i were on my home lake (lake fork, east texas) untill i moved ,i would have been fishing in Dec,Jan and Feb. in 55'-60' FOW ? what the heck ? Or the guys fishing Dardenelle 20-30 FOW ? LOCAL info is PRICELESS !!!
Tonyjohn, that's what I want to know. Why are the fish in that shallow water right now? Can someone explain it?
Nice mess Greg. I wish I lived about 2 hours closer to that lake
Well gentleman, there are about 3 reasons they were so shallow:
1. Lake Conway is a shallow lake, which in result has no thermocline so the shallow water is the same temp as the deeper water for the most part..
2. It was sunny yesterday so the water warmed a little bit around the shallows. When I started fishing yesterday the water temp was about 47 degrees. When I left the shallow water had warmed to about 52 degrees.
3. Crappie like to eat, and the shad go shallow looking for the warmer water, shad start to die of as the water temp gets into the lower 40s. So in turn the shad go shallow for warmer water and the crappie follow them looking for a buffet of shad.
Nice bunch of fish. Thanks for the pictures and report.
Makes sense, guru. Thanks for the explanation!!
