This report is from two weekends ago, but I know some of you on here enjoy a whisker fish, personally I love catching them on a rod and reel. I went back home two weekends ago and took some buddys catfishing below the dam. We slammed em, caught more than we knew what to do with. Lots of people were fishing, but I didn't see any other boats catching any where close to we were. The key was drifting, all the other boats wanted to anchor and fish as close as they could to the dam. We just drifted with the wind and the tiny current from the dam and caught fish steady for 4 hours. Fishing straight down off the side of the boat, let it to bottom and reel up a couple feet. My buddy's used some frozen skipjack they had and caught a ton. Here comes my personal little catfishing secret, I used roast...yes just roast from the store. I cut off a chunk and may catch as many as 15 cats before having to get another piece. What I dont use, i chunk up and freeze in ziploc's for the next trip. Just try it, its fabulous catfish bait, cheap and will not come off the hook. I try to do this every now and then and below most dams you can get the catfish in large numbers most of the time, this time of year is fabulous. Just an FYI if anyone needs a change of pace.
By the way, way to go to ABH for posting all the coords, stand up guy!
