Hey guys I'm new to the forum. Im primarily a bass fisherman but and bound and determined to become a better crappie fisherman. I live 10 minutes from ouachita so I mostly fish there, greeson, and degray. Never done much crappie fishing on degray or ouachita. I was hoping some of you guys may have some tips or possibly even some waypoints u might share with me. Thanks in advance for any help, and FYI my user name was just wishful thinking. Lol. I'm a rookie.

Well I can tell you where not to go on those 2 lakes, lol. I have to say I struggled a lot and from the latest fishing report the G&F puts out they said nobodys even been fishing for crappie on Degray due to the fact they ain't a catchin them. The deep clear water lakes are still a mystery to me. I got to know a pipefitter up in IL once but lost his contact info. He live to crappie fish and fished the Regional circuit. I do wish I had ol Rick Barnes contact info so I could get some pointers on the clear deep water lakes like the 2 you mentioned here. I'd almost say match the hatch and forget about the dark colors and go with grays, silvers, even clear/speckled type jigs and most of all prolly go deeper than you've been fishing. I was slow trolling, really slow that is, jigs at 30' deep but often wonder if that was deep enough even? Not a great deal of brush on those lakes but I can tell you where I sunk brush on degray just in case I stayed in the area, which we didn't, we moved right after the first of the year.
