You mean without having the navatronics package?? I know you can use it like that without the Nav. package (depth contour bars basically). I just would encourage folks to get the finders that are GPS capable for this reason, don't have to have the Navatronics thing but it does help to show depth changes as the GPS won't show that.

I think it did and was pre installed.

Nope basic GPS is what most have, the Navitronics is extra, like about $100 extra. However, you can still mark waypoints by hitting mark once you see the structure on the screen just with basic GPS.
