Default Question for Little Rock area

How y'all doin, I will be heading to Little Rock Aug. 14 for a job interview. Currently live in Texas between Houston & Galveston. I was wondering if y'all might provide some info on the area around Little Rock. Such as what the terrain is like, areas to consider living and those to avoid. From lookin on the map I believe the area of Maumelle, Mayflower might be something I'd like. Not a city boy, but don't need 40 acres either. Right now wife and I have a one acre lot outside the city limits with a 30x50 metal building(toy box). Don't want to be in a right next to the next guy neighborhood.
We have had a camp trailer @ Toledo Bend the last 5-6 years and love to Crappie and Bass fish, and are outdoor people. Don't know how the interview will go ---- have been with my present job for 25 years and giving up that tenure will be a big decision. Not to mention all the $hit we have compiled in the house and shop after 17 years of living there. But if the money is right, we are ready to make a move. Wife was born in Arkansas (Lake Village/Eudora) and has kin there, I have two step bros in Springdale/Rogers, we have been to Tablerock, and traveled up Hwy 71(what a beautiful drive) and always said I would like to retire in the Ozarks. Any info would be appreciated, as I will not have time to look the area over on the interview trip. They are flyin me in and out the same day. Thanks again

    Hey Ranger,

I hope everything works out as expected. There is tons of good fishing in Arkansas, and there is excellent fishing around the Little Rock area.

The terrain consists of some small hills and mountains to the west, but mostly flat farmland to the east of Little Rock.

There are some excellent places to live around here. More info would be needed for a better location, such as children (schools), amenities (restaurants and such), etc. I would consider Bryant, Jacksonville, Lonoke, or Mayflower (it would be nice living on Lake Conway). If you go east (Lonoke), you are more likely to get more bang for your buck (especially acreage). Areas west of Little Rock are at a premium.

Thanks for yer help - the company I'm interviewing with is located on the NW side of town (15 minutes from the airport they say), but they are building a brand new control center in Maumelle to open in the fall of 07. I have spoke to a couple guys that work there now, and one lives in the woods outside of Mayflower and the other in Maumelle. Our kids - 24 yr old married Daughter and new Grandson are doing well, Son is 19 and lost as a goose (threw away a baseball scholarship cause school was "too hard") and now findin out that makin money to survive is even harder, thinks he'll go back to school. Gee .......... seems the ole man suggested that before!!!
If I make the move, I'd like to have my mornin coffee and evenin frosty beverages on the back porch lookin at some scenic country, and not far from feelin that Crappie thump.
