Man I remember like it was yesterday
Me my grandparents going fishing and I'm 6 and full of Mountain Dew and a pack of gum over on a lake this day and I'm going 100mph all over and my grandpa says here try this just cast it out see how far you can make it! Well that lasted about 3 times and away I went again running and I stopped for a breather and watched my grandpas face everytime he would catch a fish so I said ok ill give this a try so I grappled my pole and went off by my self I probably looked like a pro fly fisherman cause I was whipping that pole around if you have ever seen a kid do this you know what I'm talking about so I'm just throwing it and here comes grandma and I'm reeling and throwing it back out there and she says Shane your not going to catch anything like that your gonna get hung up and low and behold my line went tight and se said "SEE" and all the sudden my arms jerked towards the water the left then right she said aw your justa doin that lets see it and about that time away the line went and 3 minutes later a young boy had a 8lbs bass and an 8lbs smile I've never seen my grandpa smile so big and after that I was his fishin buddy every where every time! And then when I was 13 I watched the man I adored take his final breath and 8 short years later me and my wife had a bouncing baby boy and man would his great grandpa would have loved to go fishing with us my dad doesn't REALY share the love like we do but he's trying and now we have 2 beautiful girls and I... Man I get teary eyed when they are fishing with me and I see that look on there little faces wen those lines go tight I can almost feel my grandpa behind me looking over my shoulder at them with that same sparkle in his eye over them like he was with me!! The reason I felt compelled to write this is because I'm so competitive and forget sometimes what it's really about. And GOD reminds me what I'm thankful for! The times with my grandparents, the time with these kids on the water poles in hand what's more free than that!! Keep Fishn
