Default Got my new Hummingbird 587 in today...

I'm thinking of mounting the transducer off my jack plate. Where does everybody else mount theirs?? Currently the finder in the back, cheaper Hummingbird, has it's transducer mounted inside the boat back by the batteries epoxied in the floor of the boat. I fought with the epoxy job last time, really hard to get it down where it reads right and doesn't have an air pocket. I'm thinking of moving it to the front to replace the lowrance that's seen better days and mounting the new Hummer at the console with it's transducer attached to my jack plate. The other issue is my lowrance has the 2 plastic screws that twist in opposite directions to tighten up and mount it. Hummingbirds are designed on a 4 screw post type mount, wish I could mount them the same way my lowrance is mounting. I need to get it all in place though warmer fishing won't be long.
