Most of the lake is fairly shallow. Except for the creek channel and boat lanes. i usually just fish with the wind blowing me across the lake. Haven't really caught fish in any given spot. Sometimes i catch them all on the north end and the next time i'll catch them all on the south end. I usually just troll with minnow or jigs from one side to the other picking up a few each trip. Getting the depth right is the hard part. To deep and you will stay hung up all day. That place is full of stumps just below the water level. I didn't realize how many there are till last fall when the water was low. Last year catfishing was very good on noodles around March to April. And it always seems like the wind is blowing twice as hard as it is at the house too.

I did meet a guy out there during January last year that was catching them pretty good. He was spider rigging about 1.5 to 3 feet deep. Just deep enough not to stay hung up. I think i had about 10 fish and he had his limit.

Don't bother with hogue till we get a lot more rain. Water is lower than the last time i went. Hard getting the boat on and off the trailer.

    Default Hogue

    Slabyanker,

Hopefully , we will have the pump at Lake hogue. We called Entergy at the end of Decemeber and they said it would be no later than 14th to get electrical hook-up due to the snow storm in central AR. Once they get the electricity on, we will be firing the pump up.
