    Default River report

Well fished the river locally today. Caught one crappie as the bite was slow. Saw more shad today than in a while. Marked a lot of fish but the ol lockjaw was in effect. Hope it picks back up here soon.

After all the work putting out structure, a guy always hopes for a good production of fish, I bet they were there and was just being bull headed about biting today. Maybe they done had a gut full of shad. But sometimes that gut full of shad don't stop them from eating. I have caught them and seen the tail of a 3 to 5 inch shad sticking out of their throats before and they still bit.

STick and move JW you will find them. Try some casting on the down river side of jettys/rip rap banks where your marking allot of fish or single poling back waters. You'll find em. The river fish are here today and gone tomorrow.

Glad some one is catching em. Cp right on about here today gone tomorrow. I searched high and low only single poling structure. Glad to see shad moving back in here cause the fish will follow. Water temp 56 degrees and stained. Yep i got a bunch of piles dropped buy no fish on em yet. From what i saw the fish were hanging on the drops suspended. Shad are stacked up thick in places. Tight lines, gonna do some yearly maintenance work on motor today.

To all you "river fishermen"... First, I assume you're referring to the Arkansas River. If so, are you guys fishing the main channel of the river or back water eddies and off-shoots. I live in Conway, and bass fish the river around the Cadron Settlement Park area, but have never tried to fish for crappie out there. There's lots of good crappie fishing in this area without having to fish the river, however, I do like to fish new areas and learn new water so I would be interested in hitting the river some to give it a go. Not real sure I would know where to start looking for them if I were to fish it. Any suggestions ? I don't troll or spider rig as of now. I single pole jig and will cast for them if forced to, but if I can catch em on a pole, that's my preferred method.
