I use the built-in Universal transducer on both my trolling motors and they work great. One disadvantage over the built-in versus the clamp-on transducer is that you can tilt the clamp-on transducer forward to actually see whats ahead of the boat instead of directly under it.

I do. There is not a problem with it at all. I would think that 90% of the people on here put the transducer (sp?) on the trolling motor.

That is the place to place a transducer. Why would you want to see what you've already past. Like driving forward looking in your rear view mirror ,having it mounted in the rear.

Fetmo, I have a Hummingbird transducer clamped to my trolling motor and have never had any problems. Works great! However, I also kept the factory installed one on the transom. I have the displays mounted side by side. Looking at both of them helps me to stay on the breaklines better.

    Fetmo,
Forum member Canepole, I believe, has posted pictures of his "extra trolling motor mount" that has a PVC pipe on it that has his transducer attached.
Trolling Motor is on the right front of the boat and transducer mount is on the left front.
Might want to look up CanePole's postings.

I might come listen to one of this Pastor's sermons some day. So far he is preaching the truth!!
I am set up like this. Absolutely the only way to keep the boat on a brush pile.

Have been wanting to do something like this, and would love to see what Canepole did. Have looked but cannot find his pics and sent him a pm but have not heard from him yet. Does anyone have those pics or more detailed info on how he built his mount? Thanks Bm...
If the good Lord is willing and the creeks dont rise I'll catch a slab today.
