Well Guys fished Caney Creek on Lake Conway the last day and 1/2. Able to catch some decent fish but it is real slow and a grind to put a mess together. The evening bite is a whole lot better than the morning bite. Caught almost all my fish on the lilly pad out cropping's on bright colored midsouth tubes and a nibble. All my fish were caught between the bridge and the main lake. They are starting to make their move up the creeks here on Conway. Caught 10 nice fish the day before in the evening. They have turned on some from 4PM- dark. Give it another 10 days to two two weeks and the creeks will be on fire here on Conway. Make sure you bring your bug dope and if you don't like crowds you may want to go somewhere else. Just letting you know what to expect before you make that drive.

Nice!
You are right Russ, we are still a little early for the full blown crappiepalooza that happens in the creeks of Conway, you are also correct about the crowds, Caney creek is always the first creek to get the crappie first, then Gold creek, Caney will more than likely be the crappie hot spot on Conway this year until it is beat up and wore to a frazzle. I have my concerns about Gold creek being very good this year with all of the construction going on to build a new interstate bridge. They have really change the creeks structure up by filling it in with dirt so that they can get out there to build new supports. they have filled in one half of the creek for now, I figure they will remove the dirt after the supports are done on one side, but then they will fill the creek in on the other side so that they can build the remaining supports. with this amount of change I figure it will greatly hamper the fall crappie movement up Gold creek. The added rain will help in getting the fish up to Caney creek, before we started getting rain the Crappie would have had to have lungs to get up to Caney. Shoot before the rains came a 2 pounders back would have been sticking out of the water just trying to cross the Caney creek Flats to get to the creek channel. Glad to see some white crappie for a change, them ole black stump crappie eat just as good, but I have seen so many of them this summer I was ready to see some white crappie.
Welcome to the home of the, boat eating, trolling motor busting, prop bending, lower unit smashing, stump filled mud hole called Lake Conway.

It's crazy how the whites seem to disappear during the summer. I have found them a few times with minnows around stumps near or in the channels. Cant hardly get them to bite a jig during the summer. Anybody know why this happens?

Good job CP. Way to grind em out. Im ready for the fish around here to get in the creeks and on the fall pattern.
Very nice
CP , keep cleaning the dinks out of my way and i will be there when the 16 inchers show up. Dardanelle is still tough.
It ain't nuttin but luck.
I don't know why but My theory is they spread out... sit on the bottom... and sulk till the weather cools off. Too many times over the years have I caught the occasional nice White crappie and it have mud on it's belly. They do allot of their feeding at night I know this from catches under the 89 bridge at night over the years and buddy's who put lights out on their docks catch mainly nice whites at night. Hope this helps.
