I am in the same boat as you trying to learn Conway. When i have fished in the rain generally all I got was wet the creeks should pick up shortly.

Got on the water about 11:000 and fished til 5:00. I never once got hungry or thirsty, as the lake served me big helpings of humble pie all day and the rain kept it washed down lol. Left the Pierce creek boat ramp and headed down the boat trail towards 89 bridge. Fished all the isolated cypress trees up til the big area of cypress trees (out from the bank my map calls ArkLa Bank). I then fished the lone trees / clusters tween the bank and the big area of trees and also some of the trees in the thick tree area. Fished white/chart and pink/chart very slowly around the bases of the trees. The water was a bit deeper than what I was looking for, but had to fish it anyways, since I don't know my way around over there too well. Wound up catching 11 fish - 9 were good keeper blacks and the other two were little whites. Bite was as light as I've experienced crappie fishing. I'm getting closer to figuring out the main lake deal there. I really think if I could've fished early or last hour or so before dark the bite would've been better (that's what I'm telling myself anyway). I'm ready for a creek bite!

Had some of my best trips in rain and pouring rain. When they are on the fish don't care they are wet anyways.
Sounds like ya'll need a Nimrod Lake fishing trip. Caught about 75 Crappie on jigs Friday to keep 20 and a mess of Bass on Saturday afternoon. Even Bowhunter seined a few here at camp.![]()

I sure wasn't meaning to belly ache, but I guess it reads that way lol. I like fishing in the rain too ABH. Nimrod, I set in a couple of years ago to expand my horizons an hour of every direction from my house. Conway was my furthest west target and it's proven to be a formidable opponent. I thought 9 good blacks was pretty decent though. I can catch plenty of #'s fishing the same places I always have, but I'm determined to learn how to catch those black crappie outta Conway consistently. I keep adding a couple more to my total catch each time and I'll have one of those west of 67/167 limits!!!

Well glad u got out to snag some in the lake nimrod. I left plenty of them hungry for ya. Definetely know what u mean about leaning new water. My goal was the river this year as its close and convenient and others have gave up on it I know. Just like anything success is always sweet when you put the time in yourself to learn it. Hang in there you will learn it.
Thanks for the report!!!! The girls and I went to Adams lake landing on Conway the other day. Caught one good fish on Adams I should have just started there I believe I would have caught a few more.
TAV2 what boat were you in? I was out there getting soaked as well. Ended Sunday at 89 bridge there was a guy in a little one man boat that told me to fish the stumps. I started catching fish then.
